Basement Waterproofing

constructing a concrete wall
Waterproofing your basement is certainly something that you should look into. Just because you set up vapor barriers once does not mean that you are going to be covered for life. As with many of the issues that we commonly see it’s just a good idea to keep a watchful eye on these areas. It’s ironic that they could be considered one of the most vulnerable areas in the home and one that we need to look out for. Yet, they are the area of the home that is easiest to forget about. We can help you make sure that you don’t forget!

Signs That You Need Basement Waterproofing
As we mentioned before one of the worst mistakes that you can make is thinking that just because you installed vapor barriers once these are going to hold up forever. Regardless of what you have done in the past to make sure that your basement is free of water it’s still a good idea to look out for any of these signs. Things like moisture spots and mold are clear signs that there is a moisture issue. If you walk into the basement and it smells humid it essentially feels humid, you can’t go wrong. There is a good chance that you have a problem on your hands!

Call The Mold Removal Company
Usually, if we find that you have a major mold or pest problem that has originated from the fact that your basement is extremely humid we are going to have to follow a repair process that does feature a couple of steps. The first thing that would need to be done is to literally get rid of all of the mold and the pests. Then thoroughly clean out the area really well. The last step would be deciding what the best waterproofing procedure is, at that point in time!

Basement Waterproofing Methods
There are different ways to effectively waterproof your basement. Sometimes it may be a good idea to add a drain or to actually seal off all of the cracks that we see forming in walls. We’ve talked about the vapor barrier option. We are going to be able to help you figure out which particular method happens to work best in your home. While having your budget in mind as well as the effectiveness of that particular method.

How Often Should You Get This Done?
This area is not exactly known for being too wet. That really helps out, at least when it comes to avoiding moisture issues. That is why usually getting your basement at least checked out once a year is going to be a good idea. This may seem a bit contradictory to what we’ve been saying to not feel like because you “waterproofed” once you are ok for life. In these inspections though we are going to be able to notice how well things are holding up. If we have to step in and add more protection we can certainly do so! Providing you with a waterproof foundation is our number one goal.
